Bio

Artist: Hayley Lynn

Genre: Indie-Pop Rock

For Fans Of: Maggie Rogers, Sharon van Etten, Blondie

Catch-Phrase: Unapologetic Indie-Pop from Portland, Oregon

Hayley Lynn planted the seeds of her music career around 2016 in her hometown of Portland, OR. Her folky roots quickly took shape as she organically emerged with a sound that can be described as sultry, indie-folk-pop. Over the next two years, Lynn refined her gripping and raw style while amassing a body of work that achieved successes few songwriters can claim. Her 2018 album, Bring on the Flames, was performed to several sold out shows across the Pacific Northwest and had placements on ABC, Big Ten Network, 700 Club, and Netflix Original shows, “The Pier” and “Money Heist.”

Immediately building on that impressively swift momentum, she began releasing a healthy stream of flourishing singles and EPs over the next four years, each one more potent than the last.  This culminated with her masterful 2022 album, Horizon, where she demonstrated songwriting and vocal prowess with a maturity and poise that is moving to say the least. In her own words, “Many of the songs came as a means to heal. The pandemic was especially hard on artists and my method of survival was to dive deep into the layers of my life and write about the feelings that arose as well as the distractions I used to cope.” The result is a velvet voice wrapped in an ocean of sound that is cathartic to get lost in.

In addition to being a hometown favorite, Lynn is back on the road touring throughout the U.S and Canada with breakthrough performances at festivals and venues such as Red Ants Pants Music Festival, Oregon Country Fair, Northwest Folklife, Golden Gate Park Bandshell, Hotel Cafe, Winningstad Theater, Bloodworks Live Studio, Mississippi Studios, and The Old Church Concert Hall.

Lynn’s newest release, The Art of Letting Go: Side A, comes out on March 15th, 2024 and is just as stunning as her previous level of artistry found on Horizon. These songs will deepen her fan’s connection with her as she sings in a familiar style about the struggles of moving on from memories and situations that don’t serve her anymore.

While Norah Jones and Maggie Rogers certainly come to mind when listening to Lynn’s extensive catalog, as of late, she can be found on the live scene premiering tunes soon to be released on Side B with an electric attitude more akin to The Runaways, Joan Jett, and Blondie. On the final track of her latest album, Lynn sings, “I don’t know what’s waiting on my horizon.” If her past accomplishments and unreleased Side B material is any clue, it’s certainly a rock ’n’ roll success story in the making.

Buzz Magazine stated “Organically gripping and raw, Hayley Lynn’s sultry timbres extend through the various depths of her vocal range as she is soft-spoken but packs a punch when her lyrical motifs drop. ”

Daniel J Curran from Music Review commented “Hayley Lynn is a musical attention-getter. She not only knows how to get your attention; she knows how to keep it. Her songs are well written, well played, well sung. Her voice is extraordinary. Her vocal range and songwriting ability leave one excited about the infinite possibilities the future possesses.”

In 2022, Lynn shaped her first full length LP ‘Horizon’.  Many of the songs came as a means to heal. The pandemic was especially hard on artists and Lynn’s method of survival was to dive deep into the layers of her life, the feelings that arose and the distractions she used to cope. The result is a velvet voice wrapped in an ocean of sound that is cathartic to lose ourselves in.

Her single, “Danny DeVito,” shows Lynn doing what most artists hope to achieve: take her art seriously while still bringing levity into the world. The dance-pop single is a nod to cult subcultures everywhere, yet somehow keeps one foot strictly in the mainstream.

Recently, Lynn is working on her second album ‘The Art of Letting Go.’
